Tulsi Gowda, affectionately known as the “Encyclopedia of Forests”, passed away at the age of 86 due to age-related ailments at her home in Honnalli village, Karnataka.
Her life’s mission was devoted to environmental conservation, having planted and nurtured over 30,000 trees throughout her remarkable journey. Recognizing her unparalleled contribution to the environment, she was honored with the prestigious Padma Shri award in 2021.
Her demise marks a great loss to the nation, but her legacy of environmental stewardship will continue to inspire future generations to protect and nurture the planet.
