President Droupadi Murmu arrived in Thiruvananthapuram to attend the spectacular Navy Day celebrations at Shankhumukham Beach. President was warmly received at the airport by Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Governor Arif Mohammed Khan.
For the first time ever, Thiruvananthapuram is hosting Navy Day festivities, featuring a powerful maritime showcase this evening. Over 40 naval vessels, including 19 major warships, submarines, and 32 fighter aircraft, will take part. The lineup includes cutting-edge assets such as INS Vikrant, INS Imphal, INS Kolkata, INS Trishul, and INS Talwar.
Navy Chief Admiral R. Hari Kumar will also be in attendance as the Indian Navy presents an impressive demonstration of its operational strength.
Strict Traffic Restrictions in the City
Due to the President’s visit, extensive traffic regulations have been imposed across Thiruvananthapuram today and tomorrow.
Today (Dec 3):
- Restrictions from 2 PM to 9 PM.
- No parking along key stretches including Shankhumukham–Domestic Airport Road, Airport Aratt Gate, Vallakadavu, Enchakkal, SP Fort, Thampanoor Flyover, Vellayambalam, and Kowdiar.
Tomorrow (Dec 4):
- Restrictions from 6 AM to 11 AM.
- No parking on major routes such as Kowdiar–Vellayambalam–Museum–VJT–Pattom–Chakka–Shankhumukham.
Vehicles parked in restricted zones will be towed away, and diversions will be enforced along the President’s route, authorities said.
