PMO to Be Renamed ‘Seva Teerth’ as Govt Pushes Ahead with De-Colonisation Drive

In a significant move reflecting India’s ongoing de-colonisation efforts, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) will soon be renamed Seva Teerth’. The new name, officials said, symbolizes the Prime Minister’s commitment to service and national welfare.

Ahead of the renaming, the PMO is set to shift operations from the historic South Block to a newly constructed building. The decision is part of a broader initiative to replace colonial-era names and symbols with titles that better resonate with India’s cultural identity and governance philosophy.

This move follows the recent renaming of Raj Bhavan to ‘Lok Bhavan’. The PMO complex was earlier referred to as the ‘Executive Enclave’ during its planning and construction phase.

The government has implemented several similar changes in recent years—most notably renaming Rajpath as Kartavya Path, and in 2016, changing the Prime Minister’s official residence address to Lok Kalyan Marg.

With the latest change, the Centre aims to reinforce the ethos of duty, service, and national pride across key institutions.
