PM Modi Vows to Build a Healthier Nation on World Health Day 2025

New Delhi: Marking World Health Day 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reaffirmed the Indian government’s unwavering commitment to strengthening healthcare and ensuring overall well-being for all citizens.

In a heartfelt message, PM Modi stated, “On World Health Day, let us reaffirm our commitment to building a healthier world. Our Government will keep focusing on healthcare and invest in different aspects of people’s well-being. Good health is the foundation of every thriving society.”

The theme of this year’s World Health Day, “Healthy Beginnings, Hopeful Futures,” shines a spotlight on maternal and infant health—an area where India has made remarkable progress. The country’s Maternal Mortality Ratio (MMR) saw a notable drop from 130 per 100,000 live births in 2014–16 to 97 in 2018–20, reflecting a significant 33-point reduction.

This achievement complements India’s large-scale health initiatives such as Ayushman Bharat and the National Health Mission, which aim to make quality healthcare both affordable and accessible. The government’s focus on preventive care, robust infrastructure, and financial protection for citizens has become the cornerstone of its public health strategy.

PM Modi’s message on this global observance underscores India’s proactive role in creating a healthier future—where strong public health is seen not just as a policy goal, but as a pillar of national progress.
