Air India Flight AI-171 crash that claimed 265 lives, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Ahmedabad to oversee rescue efforts and extend solidarity with the victims.
The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, en route to London Gatwick, crashed shortly after takeoff, slamming into a residential area near Meghaninagar. The Prime Minister surveyed the crash site, met with injured survivors and the sole survivor, British national Vishwash Kumar Ramesh, at Civil Hospital. He also interacted with the medical team tending to the wounded.
Expressing deep sorrow, PM Modi assured the nation that the government would leave no stone unturned in providing relief, supporting victims’ families, and uncovering the cause of the crash.
At the Ahmedabad airport, he convened a high-level emergency meeting with Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu and Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel to assess the situation and expedite rescue operations.
The PM also commended the tireless efforts of first responders and rescue teams, emphasizing the need for a comprehensive investigation and prompt implementation of safety measures to prevent such tragedies.
His visit sent a clear message of compassion, urgency, and commitment in the face of one of India’s deadliest aviation disasters in recent memory.
