PM Modi Unveils ₹62,000-Crore Youth Skilling Drive at Kaushal Deekshant Samaroh

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing the Kaushal Deekshant Samaroh at Vigyan Bhawan, launched a massive youth-focused skilling push worth over ₹62,000 crore, aimed at transforming technical education and employability across the nation. The highlight of the programme is PM-SETU (Pradhan Mantri Skilling and Employability Transformation through Upgraded ITIs), a ₹60,000-crore scheme to revamp 1,000 government ITIs through a hub-and-spoke model with modern infrastructure, digital learning, incubation centres, and industry collaborations.

Alongside, the Prime Minister inaugurated 1,200 Vocational Skill Labs in Navodaya Vidyalayas and Eklavya Model Schools across the country, while also announcing a series of initiatives for Bihar, including a new Skill University named after Jananayak Karpoori Thakur, modernization of leading universities, the dedication of NIT Patna’s new Bihta campus, and a revamped Student Credit Card Scheme offering interest-free loans up to ₹4 lakh. Emphasizing India as a “nation of knowledge and skill,” Modi called ITIs the “workshops of an Aatmanirbhar Bharat,” stressing that the reforms will not only enhance skills but also strengthen the bridge between education, industry, and employment, ensuring the youth are better equipped for future opportunities.
