New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the nation’s civil servants at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, on April 21, 2025, as part of the 17th Civil Services Day celebrations. The event, scheduled to begin at 11:00 AM IST, will spotlight the exceptional contributions of civil servants across the country.
During the ceremony, the Prime Minister will present the prestigious Prime Minister’s Awards for Excellence in Public Administration. This year, 16 awards will be distributed in three key categories:
- Holistic Development of Districts
- Aspirational Blocks Programme
- Innovation
These awards aim to recognize outstanding work in public service delivery and innovative governance initiatives by India’s administrative machinery.
Civil Services Day is celebrated annually on April 21 to commemorate the historic address delivered by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in 1947 to the first batch of Indian civil servants. Referred to as the “steel frame of India,” the civil services continue to be the backbone of the nation’s governance structure.
The event not only honors excellence but also serves as a motivational platform to encourage ongoing dedication, innovation, and reform in public administration.
