Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the launch of the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana (PM-VBRY), describing it as a transformative step to harness India’s demographic dividend and accelerate progress towards Viksit Bharat 2047. The ₹99,446-crore employment-linked incentive scheme, first announced in his Independence Day address, aims to generate over 3.5 crore jobs by July 2027, including nearly 1.92 crore first-time job seekers entering formal employment.
Under the scheme, first-time employees earning up to ₹1 lakh a month can receive financial support of up to ₹15,000, disbursed in two installments after completing six and twelve months of continuous employment and a financial literacy program. Employers who create new jobs will also benefit, receiving up to ₹3,000 per employee per month, with higher incentives for the manufacturing sector.
The scheme’s rollout emphasizes digital-first execution, ensuring seamless access and benefit delivery through EPFO’s portal, the UMANG app, and direct benefit transfer via Aadhaar-linked accounts. Labour Minister Mansukh Mandaviya urged both job seekers and employers to take full advantage of the incentives, stressing that the initiative will not only create jobs but also strengthen formal employment and financial security.
Experts view PM-VBRY as more than just a jobs program — it represents a structural reform to formalize the workforce, foster inclusive growth, and strategically integrate India’s vast youth population into the economy.
