New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has embarked on the longest foreign diplomatic tour of his tenure, spanning eight days and covering five strategically important nations — Ghana, Trinidad and Tobago, Argentina, Brazil, and Namibia. The tour, which concludes on July 9, underscores India’s push to deepen global partnerships across key sectors.
Aimed at boosting cooperation in defense, rare earth minerals, counter-terrorism, agriculture, energy, and trade, the visit highlights India’s growing focus on resource-rich nations like Argentina, known for its lithium reserves crucial for clean energy technologies.
Modi will first land in Ghana’s capital, Accra, today at 2:30 PM IST, where he is scheduled to meet President John Dramani Mahama and attend a state dinner. Tomorrow, he will engage with the Indian diaspora in Ghana.
The Prime Minister will then travel to Trinidad and Tobago, Argentina, Brazil, and Namibia. Multiple Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) are expected to be signed throughout the tour. A key highlight will be Modi’s participation in the high-level BRICS Summit in Brazil, further reinforcing India’s global leadership ambitions.
