New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi at Raj Ghat on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, marking the 156th birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation.
Sharing his thoughts on X, PM Modi said Gandhi Jayanti is a moment to honor the “extraordinary life of beloved Bapu, whose ideals transformed the course of human history.” He highlighted how Gandhi’s courage, simplicity, service, and compassion continue to inspire, adding that the nation will “keep following his path in the quest to build a Viksit Bharat.”
The Prime Minister recalled Gandhiji’s timeless legacy of truth, non-violence, and moral strength, reaffirming his government’s resolve to carry forward these values in shaping an inclusive and developed India.
On the same day, PM Modi also paid homage to former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri, describing him as an “extraordinary statesman” whose humility and integrity strengthened the nation. Remembering Shastri’s famous call of “Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan,” Modi said his leadership continues to guide the country’s progress.
President Droupadi Murmu also visited Raj Ghat to offer tributes, emphasizing Mahatma Gandhi’s principles of peace, tolerance, and his commitment to uplifting the marginalized.
