PM Modi Pays Tribute to Literary Legend M.T. Vasudevan Nair: India Mourns a Cultural Icon

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep sorrow over the passing of M.T. Vasudevan Nair, an iconic figure in Malayalam literature and cinema, who passed away on December 25, 2024, at the age of 91.

In his heartfelt condolence message, PM Modi stated, “Saddened by the passing away of Shri M.T. Vasudevan Nair Ji, one of the most respected figures in Malayalam cinema and literature. His works, with their profound exploration of human emotions, have shaped generations and will continue to inspire many more. He also gave voice to the silent and marginalized. My thoughts are with his family and admirers. Om Shanti.”

Affectionately known as MT, Vasudevan Nair was a celebrated author, screenwriter, and film director whose contributions transformed both literature and cinema in India. His works, deeply rooted in Kerala’s cultural and social ethos, earned him accolades such as the Jnanpith Award and the Padma Bhushan.
