PM Modi Marks 9th Anniversary of Sugamya Bharat Abhiyan, Pledges to Build an Inclusive India

Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently commemorated the 9th anniversary of the Sugamya Bharat Abhiyan (Accessible India Campaign), launched on December 3, 2015, with the vision of creating an accessible and inclusive India for persons with disabilities (PwDs). The initiative focuses on eliminating barriers in public spaces, transportation, and digital platforms, ensuring that PwDs can enjoy equal participation in all aspects of life.

Over the years, significant infrastructure improvements have been made, including retrofitting public buildings, enhancing transportation hubs, and making government websites more accessible. The campaign has also advocated for the construction of ramps, tactile paths, and the installation of Braille signs and audio signals in key locations.

In his address, PM Modi highlighted the progress achieved under this campaign, stressing the importance of an inclusive society where all citizens, regardless of their abilities, can live with dignity and contribute to the country’s growth.
