PM Modi Launches ₹60,000 Crore Development Projects in Odisha’s Jharsuguda

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday unveiled a massive package of development initiatives worth over ₹60,000 crore in Jharsuguda, marking his sixth visit to Odisha since the BJP assumed power in the state in June 2024. The projects cover a wide range of sectors including telecommunications, railways, higher education, health, skill development, and rural housing. Among the highlights are the commissioning of 97,500 mobile 4G towers built with indigenous technology at an investment of ₹37,000 crore, new railway infrastructure projects to strengthen connectivity, and the expansion of eight IITs to add capacity for more than 10,000 students in the coming years. The event, originally scheduled in Berhampur, was shifted to Jharsuguda due to heavy rain forecasts, but drew significant attention as the state gears up for rapid infrastructure and educational growth under the new initiatives.
