PM Modi Launches ₹13,430 Crore Mega Development Push in Andhra Pradesh: Major Boost for Infrastructure, Industry, and Connectivity

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday unveiled a massive wave of development projects worth ₹13,430 crore across Andhra Pradesh, marking a milestone in the state’s growth journey. The projects, spanning multiple key sectors—power, railways, roads, industrial infrastructure, defence, and energy—are aimed at accelerating economic growth and creating large-scale employment across the region.

Among the highlights is the Transmission System Strengthening Scheme, centered on the Kurnool-III Pooling Station, with an investment exceeding ₹2,880 crore. The initiative includes a 765 kV double-circuit transmission line between Kurnool-III and Chilakaluripeta, expanding the region’s transmission capacity by 6,000 MVA. This will enable the seamless flow of renewable energy, reinforcing India’s clean energy ambitions.

In the industrial sector, PM Modi laid the foundation for two major hubs — the Orvakal Industrial Area in Kurnool and the Kopparthy Industrial Area in Kadapa. Developed under the National Industrial Corridor Development & Implementation Trust (NICDIT) and APIIC, these projects are expected to draw substantial investments, create thousands of jobs, and transform Rayalaseema into an industrial powerhouse.

The Prime Minister also launched a series of road and railway projects designed to enhance connectivity and logistics efficiency across the state. A greenfield six-lane highway from Sabbavaram to Sheelanagar, worth ₹960 crore, will serve as a major transport corridor, while several road upgrades and bypass projects totaling ₹1,140 crore were also inaugurated.

In the railway sector, Modi inaugurated and dedicated new lines, flyovers, and route-doubling projects aimed at decongesting major traffic routes and facilitating smoother freight movement.

The Prime Minister also invoked India’s spiritual legacy, paying homage to sacred sites like Srisailam, Somnath, and Mallikarjuna, symbolically linking the nation’s cultural heritage with its developmental aspirations.

The event saw the presence of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan, and IT Minister Nara Lokesh, who hailed the projects as a testament to strong Centre-State collaboration. The massive investment initiative reflects the “double-engine growth model”, combining central and state efforts to fast-track Andhra’s economic transformation.

With these new projects, Andhra Pradesh is poised for a major economic and infrastructural leap. From energy expansion and industrial growth to enhanced connectivity and defence production, the ₹13,430 crore development drive marks a new chapter in the state’s progress story — one that aligns closely with India’s larger vision of inclusive and sustainable national growth.
