PM Modi Highlights India’s Commitment to Empowering Persons with Disabilities

On the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reiterated the government’s dedication to ensuring dignity, respect, and equal opportunities for Divyang (persons with disabilities) across the nation. He emphasized the transformative measures undertaken to create a more inclusive India.

Key initiatives include the Accessible India Campaign (Sugamya Bharat Abhiyan), which aims to eliminate physical and digital barriers. The Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, has expanded the definition of disability and increased reservations in education and employment. Additionally, programs like Composite Regional Centres focus on skill development and rehabilitation, enabling independent and dignified living for Divyang citizens.

These efforts reflect the government’s vision for an equitable society where every individual can thrive without limitations.
