PM Modi Hails Rural Land Digitisation as Key to Empowering Rural India

On January 18, 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded the success of Rural Land Digitisation, calling it a transformative initiative that is driving rural empowerment through technology and effective governance. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), PM Modi remarked:

“Furthering rural empowerment by leveraging the power of technology and good governance…”

The SVAMITVA Scheme, launched on April 24, 2020, is at the heart of this transformation. Aimed at providing clear property rights to rural residents, the initiative has successfully reduced property disputes and enhanced financial inclusion. By the end of 2024, impressive progress was made:

Drone Surveys Completed: 310,388 villages
Maps Handed Over: 265,893 villages
Parcels Digitized: 99.85 million
Property Cards Distributed: 112,409
This digital revolution is not only ensuring transparency but is also empowering rural communities, enabling them to access loans, government schemes, and better livelihoods. Through SVAMITVA, the government is setting the stage for a future of sustainable rural development, showcasing how technology and governance can elevate the lives of millions.
