Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted the nation on the auspicious occasion of Vijayadashami (Dussehra), describing it as a festival that embodies the “victory of good and truth over evil and untruth.” In a heartfelt message shared on X (formerly Twitter), he wished that the occasion inspires people to walk the path of “courage, wisdom, and devotion.” The Prime Minister also extended “warmest greetings” to families across the country.
Leaders across India, including Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, echoed similar sentiments, emphasizing that Dussehra reminds people to renounce negativity and embrace virtue.
Meanwhile, festive celebrations have begun nationwide with grand Ravana, Meghnad, and Kumbhakarna effigy burnings, symbolizing the triumph of Lord Rama. Interestingly, in Noida’s Bisrakh village—believed to be Ravana’s birthplace—residents worship the demon king instead of burning his effigy. Adding to the traditions, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) performed its customary Shastra Puja (weapon worship) in Nagpur, marking the spiritual essence of the festival.
