PM Modi Engages with Indian AI Start-Ups, Calls Them Co-Architects of India’s Tech Future

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday chaired a high-level roundtable with leading Indian artificial intelligence (AI) start-ups, reaffirming the government’s commitment to positioning India as a global leader in ethical and inclusive AI innovation.

The interaction, held at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg, brought together 12 promising AI start-ups selected for the “AI for ALL: Global Impact Challenge”, ahead of the upcoming India AI Impact Summit 2026. The entrepreneurs showcased cutting-edge innovations spanning Indian-language foundation models, multilingual large language models, speech-to-text and text-to-audio/video technologies, generative AI for 3D content, engineering simulations, material science research, advanced analytics, and healthcare solutions.

Addressing the participants, the Prime Minister described AI start-ups as the “co-architects of India’s future”, and urged them to focus on building solutions that strengthen local innovation, regional languages, and indigenous data ecosystems. He stressed the importance of developing AI that is ethical, transparent, unbiased, and respectful of data privacy, ensuring technology serves society responsibly.

Start-up founders highlighted India’s rapidly expanding AI ecosystem, noting that the global centre of AI innovation is increasingly shifting towards India due to its strong talent base, supportive policy environment, and growing digital infrastructure.

The roundtable is seen as a key step ahead of the India AI Impact Summit 2026, which is expected to bring together global leaders and further cement India’s role at the forefront of responsible and impactful AI development.
