PM Modi Applauds Amravati Airport Inauguration as a Game-Changer for Vidarbha’s Growth and Connectivity

Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed the inauguration of the Amravati Airport as a significant milestone for Maharashtra, especially the Vidarbha region, calling it “great news” that promises to boost commerce, connectivity, and regional development. Inaugurated by Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu, along with Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar, the airport marks a major leap under the Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS), supported by Viability Gap Funding (VGF).

The new airport commenced operations with Alliance Air’s inaugural flight between Amravati and Mumbai, offering a long-awaited air link for the region. Minister Naidu described the project as a historic milestone that will strengthen the aviation infrastructure of India. He also observed a demonstration at the upcoming Air India Flying Training Organisation (FTO), which is set to become the largest in South Asia.

Chief Minister Fadnavis emphasized that the airport will unlock new economic opportunities, create jobs, and give Vidarbha a renewed identity. He also highlighted the upcoming PM Mitra Park, which is expected to generate over two lakh jobs and uplift local cotton farmers by boosting the textile industry. The launch of Amravati Airport is widely viewed as a transformative step in bringing Vidarbha closer to the national growth map.
