PM Hails 11 Years of Mining Reforms as Model of Centre-State Unity and Economic Growth

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has praised the transformative journey of India’s mining sector over the past 11 years, calling it a shining example of cooperative federalism and transparent governance. Sharing an article by Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy on social media, the PM highlighted how the reforms have revolutionized mineral development across the country.

Key achievements include the introduction of transparent auction systems leading to over 500 mineral block allocations, significant amendments to the Mines and Minerals Act (2015–2023), and sweeping digitisation measures like drone surveys and faceless approvals. The launch of the National Critical Mineral Mission and India’s first offshore mining ventures, including international deals for lithium in Argentina, signal India’s global ambitions.

These reforms have generated over ₹4 lakh crore in state revenue and strengthened local governance through initiatives like the District Mineral Foundation. Minister Reddy stated that these measures have not only boosted investor confidence but also solidified the sector as a model for Centre-State collaboration.

The Prime Minister’s endorsement reaffirms the government’s commitment to driving infrastructure, strategic self-reliance, and economic development through a robust, transparent mining framework.
