NEW DELHI: The government has mandated that only made-in-India CCTV products will be sold in the country from April 1. The move comes after the deadline to clear existing stocks of imported, non-certified units ends on March 31.
Officials said the sale of CCTV cameras without Standardisation Testing and Quality Certification (STQC) has been barred. The rule was originally notified in April 2025, giving traders time to exhaust old inventory.
The government clarified that the order will not affect domestic manufacturers. The decision aims to promote local production and ensure quality standards in surveillance equipment.
