One Battle After Another Wins Best Picture and Six Awards at 98th Oscars


One Battle After Another won six awards at the 98th Academy awards held on Sunday. The film, directed by Paul Thomas Anderson and starring Leonardo DiCaprio, won Best Picture along with awards for Best Director, Adapted Screenplay, Editing, Best Supporting Actor, and the newly introduced Best Casting category.

This marks the first Oscar win for Anderson, who had previously received 11 nominations. While accepting the screenplay award, Anderson said: “I wrote this movie for my kids to say sorry for the housekeeping mess that we left in this world-we’re handing off to them.”
“But also with the encouragement that they will be the generation that hopefully brings us some common sense and decency.”

Meanwhile, Michael B Jordan won Best Actor award. The film Sinners also won major awards, Its cinematographer Atumn Durald Arkapaw made history as the first woman to win the Oscar for cinematography. During her speech, Arkapaw said:

“I really want all the women in the room to stand up. Because I dont feel like I get here without you guys.”
