No Plan for Lockdown, Says Sitharaman Amid West Asia Crisis

Nirmala Sitharaman on Friday said there is no proposal to impose a lockdown in the country amid the ongoing West Asia conflict. Speaking in the Rajya Sabha, she urged political leaders to avoid spreading rumours and creating fear among the public.

The minister said the government is closely monitoring the situation and will keep the fiscal deficit under control. She added that efforts are being made to ensure rising global crude oil prices do not burden common people.

Nirmala Sitharaman also noted that while several countries have raised fuel prices significantly, petrol and diesel rates in India have remained unchanged.
