Ninety-eight Indian Haj pilgrims dead By  our  Correspondent

New  Delhi, June  24  (IVC)   ninety-eight  Indians  have  died so  far  this year during  the annual Muslim  pilgrimage  of  Haj to Mecca this  year.  The  deaths  were  due  to natural  causes, chronic illness and old  age, official  sources aid here.

                The  total  number deaths of Indians  during   the  entire  Haj period  during  the  last  year  was 187, Ministry External  Affairs Spokesman  Randhir Jaswal said.

                “This  year 1,75,000 Indians visited Mecca during  the  Haj  period  from May 9  to  June    22.  Till now 98 deaths   have  been  reported this  year”, he  said. “The  deaths  were due  to natural  causes, chronic illness and  old  age.  Six  persons died on  the  way  of Arafat and  four  were accident-related  deaths, Mr  Jaiswal added.
