New Low-Pressure Over Bay of Bengal to Bring Rainy Spell to Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram: A fresh low-pressure system has formed over the Bay of Bengal, raising the prospect of showers across Kerala in the coming days. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported that the system has developed over the west-central and northwest Bay of Bengal, near the north Andhra Pradesh–south Odisha coast.

Under its influence, light to moderate rainfall is likely in Kerala for the next five days. While this marks the first Bay of Bengal low-pressure of September, the IMD noted that rains in Kerala may remain relatively weak, with a slight uptick in scattered showers expected after Monday.

Looking ahead, forecasters indicate that another low-pressure system could emerge around September 20, with rainfall activity expected to strengthen again towards the end of the month.
