Thiruvananthapuram: The Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) has firmly denied viral social media claims that e-challans are being scrapped. Calling the reports “fake and misleading,” officials clarified that all challans remain valid and enforceable.
The department stressed that even violations by its own vehicles are penalized, underscoring its zero-tolerance approach. Importantly, once issued, an e-challan can only be cancelled by a court of law — not by the department.
Authorities warned that the false news is an attempt to mislead the public and promote traffic violations, urging citizens to stay vigilant against misinformation.
