New Delhi: In a significant revision, the Central Government has increased the salaries and allowances of Members of Parliament (MPs). As per the latest notification, MPs’ monthly salary has been raised from ₹1,00,000 to ₹1,24,000, along with a hike in daily allowance from ₹2,000 to ₹2,500.
The revised pay structure, which came into effect retroactively from April 1, 2023, marks a 24% salary hike for sitting MPs. Additionally, former MPs will now receive ₹31,000 in pension, up from ₹25,000.
This is the first salary revision for MPs since 2018. The Indian Parliament currently has 543 Lok Sabha members and 245 Rajya Sabha members.
