Monsoon Makes a Comeback: Kerala Braces for Heavy Rains, Yellow Alert in Several Districts from Saturday

After a short lull, monsoon showers are set to drench Kerala once again, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) warning of isolated heavy rainfall across multiple districts starting Saturday. The weather department has already issued yellow alerts in several regions as a precautionary measure.

According to the IMD forecast, Pathanamthitta and Idukki will be the first to experience heavy downpours on Saturday, followed by Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, and Pathanamthitta on Sunday. The wet spell is expected to intensify further on Monday, bringing widespread rain to Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, and Alappuzha.

Meteorologists define “heavy rain” as precipitation ranging between 64.5 mm and 115.5 mm within 24 hours, and officials have urged residents to remain cautious, avoid waterlogged areas, and follow safety advisories.

With dark clouds gathering once again, Kerala looks set for another spell of vigorous monsoon rains — a reminder that the season is far from over.
