Modi Felicitates Retiring Rajya Sabha Members

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday paid tribute to 59 members retiring from the Rajya Sabha between April and July, describing Parliament as an “open university” and urging them to continue contributing to public life.

Speaking during the farewell session, he said such moments go beyond political differences and bring a shared sense of respect among members. He also noted that in politics, there is always scope for future roles and contributions.

The Prime Minister praised senior leaders including former Prime Minister H. D. Deve Gowda, Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge, and Sharad Pawar for their long service in Parliament.

Meanwhile, recent Rajya Sabha elections have strengthened the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), increasing its strength to 141 in the 245-member House. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) now has 106 members, including elected and nominated MPs.
