Middle East Tensions Escalate: Over 1,200 Killed as U.S.–Israel Strikes Intensify in Iran

Tehran: The conflict involving Iran, Israel and the United States has intensified as military operations entered their seventh day, with large-scale airstrikes reported across several parts of Iran. According to Israeli military sources, the expanded offensive aims to destroy underground facilities believed to store ballistic missiles. International media reports indicate that advanced U.S. B-2 bomber aircraft were used in the latest round of attacks carried out on Friday.

Powerful explosions were reported in multiple locations in Tehran, including areas near residential neighbourhoods and the vicinity of the University of Tehran, according to reports from Al Jazeera. The growing violence has taken a heavy human toll, with estimates suggesting that around 1,230 people have been killed so far. A report by UNICEF stated that at least 181 children are among the dead, including a large number in a reported strike on a girls’ school in Minab. The incident has sparked international concern, and the United States has reportedly launched an investigation. According to Reuters, U.S. officials acknowledged that the school was struck during military operations, an act that could be considered a war crime if confirmed.

Meanwhile, the tensions appear to be spreading across the region. Authorities in Saudi Arabia said their air defence systems intercepted three ballistic missiles launched early Friday toward Prince Sultan Air Base in Al Kharj Governorate. Two drones and a cruise missile were also shot down in the Eastern Province. Saudi officials confirmed that there were no casualties or damage, but the incidents highlight the growing risk of the conflict expanding across the Middle East.
