Mid-Air Scare: Air India Express Flight to Doha Returns to Karipur Due to Technical Glitch

Malappuram: A routine Air India Express flight from Karipur (Calicut International Airport) to Doha turned into a tense mid-air situation on Wednesday after a technical malfunction forced the aircraft to return just two hours after takeoff.

The flight, carrying 188 people including crew, took off at 9:07 AM and was forced to land back at 11:12 AM, following a fault in the cabin air-conditioning (AC) system.

Airport officials confirmed that the issue, though not posing immediate danger, was serious enough to warrant an emergency return. All passengers were safely deboarded, and the airline assured that technical teams are working to resolve the problem.

In the meantime, passengers were provided with food, water, and full ground assistance. Air India Express stated that alternate travel arrangements will be made if the aircraft cannot be cleared for flight.

The incident serves as a reminder of the airline’s commitment to safety-first protocols, even when it means disrupting scheduled journeys.
