Mongolia is witnessing a sharp surge in measles infections, with the total number of confirmed cases rising to 14,123, according to the National Centre for Communicable Diseases (NCCD). Health officials say the outbreak is spreading rapidly, raising concerns about public health, especially in urban and school settings where close contact accelerates transmission.
Authorities have noted that school-aged children account for a large share of infections, many of whom have received only a single dose of the measles vaccine or missed full immunisation altogether. The NCCD has urged parents to ensure children complete the two-dose vaccination schedule, stressing that immunisation remains the most effective way to prevent serious complications and contain the outbreak. Health teams continue surveillance and response measures to curb further spread of the highly contagious virus.
