Malaysia Airlines to Boost Flights to Kerala’s Capital Starting June 2025

Thiruvananthapuram: In a major boost to Kerala’s international connectivity, Malaysia Airlines has announced an increase in its Kuala Lumpur–Thiruvananthapuram service, raising weekly flights from four to five starting June 6, 2025. The move is set to strengthen ties between Kerala and the Asia-Pacific region, aligning with the state’s growing tourism ambitions.

Kerala Tourism Minister P.A. Mohamed Riyas welcomed the announcement, stating it perfectly complements Kerala’s “Look East” policy, aimed at attracting more visitors from the Asia-Pacific nations. The enhanced frequency is expected to significantly boost tourist arrivals and elevate the state’s global tourism footprint.

As the only full-service premium carrier operating on this route, Malaysia Airlines said the additional flight would ensure smoother, more convenient travel options for passengers connecting Kerala to multiple destinations across Asia-Pacific.

This expansion is part of Malaysia Airlines’ broader strategy to grow its footprint in India’s non-metro markets. Alongside Thiruvananthapuram, the airline also plans to increase services to Ahmedabad, with its network already linking nine Indian cities to Kuala Lumpur through 71 weekly flights.

With improved air connectivity, Kerala is poised to strengthen its position as a preferred international travel destination.
