Maharashtra Scraps Tolls at Mumbai Entry Points in Pre-Election Bonanza for Motorists

Mumbai: In a game-changing move just before the upcoming elections, the Maharashtra government has announced a complete toll waiver for motorists entering Mumbai through its busiest entry points. This decision, aimed at alleviating daily traffic woes and offering financial relief to commuters, is being seen as a strategic pre-election maneuver.

Effective immediately, the waiver applies to key toll plazas at Mulund, Dahisar, Airoli, and Vashi entry points infamous for long delays and bottlenecks. The move is expected to bring much-needed respite to thousands of vehicles navigating Mumbai’s heavily congested roads daily.

Political observers suggest that the toll removal could be a calculated effort to garner support from urban voters, particularly in Mumbai, where infrastructure and traffic are hot-button issues. The government has pledged to offset the loss in toll revenue through alternate channels, ensuring the move doesn’t impact ongoing infrastructure projects.

As the city’s motorists celebrate the decision, its effect on voter sentiment is eagerly anticipated in the run-up to the elections.
