Government directs oil companies to boost production amid supply disruption
Delhi: A growing shortage of LPG cylinders is disrupting the operations of restaurants and hotels across several Indian cities, raising concerns about a widening gas supply crisis. Hospitality associations say many eateries are struggling to procure commercial LPG cylinders, forcing some establishments to temporarily shut down.
The shortage has been reported in major cities including Mumbai, Bengaluru and Kolkata. Restaurant bodies in these cities say that LPG supplies have become irregular over the past few days, affecting daily operations in the hospitality sector.
Industry representatives have warned that the lack of timely LPG supply is creating serious difficulties for restaurants and hotels that depend on commercial cylinders for cooking. If the shortage continues, more establishments may face operational disruptions.
In response to the situation, the government has asked oil companies and refineries to increase LPG production to stabilise supply. Authorities are monitoring the situation closely and steps are being taken to address the crisis and restore normal distribution.
