KSRTC to Launch Bottled Water Sales; ₹1 Cheaper Than Market Price, ₹3 Incentive for Staff

Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) is set to enter the bottled water retail segment. Under the new initiative, bottled drinking water will be made available inside KSRTC buses at a price ₹1 lower than the prevailing market rate, aiming to provide better convenience and service to passengers.

Passengers often face difficulty in purchasing drinking water during travel breaks, frequently having to search for shops. The new measure is intended to address this issue and enhance passenger comfort.

Transport Minister K. B. Ganesh Kumar said that discussions are currently underway with companies for the bulk supply of bottled water. For every bottle sold, ₹2 will be given to the conductor and ₹1 to the driver as an incentive. The bottled water, procured directly from manufacturers, will be distributed under the KSRTC label.

Special arrangements will be made near the driver’s cabin to store the bottled water, and a separate facility will also be provided for storing the drinking water used by the driver, the minister added.
