The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has launched a fully digital cloak room system, becoming the first road transport corporation in India to introduce such a facility.
Designed to replace outdated manual registers, the new system allows passengers to deposit and retrieve luggage using QR codes or digital tokens, ensuring a seamless, transparent, and secure experience.
The state-of-the-art facility was inaugurated at the Thiruvananthapuram Central Depot by Transport Minister K. B. Ganesh Kumar. During the initial phase, the service will be available at nine key bus stations—Thiruvananthapuram Central, Kollam, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Munnar, Ernakulam, Aluva, Angamaly, and Kozhikode.
Built with advanced tracking mechanisms and round-the-clock CCTV surveillance, the digital cloak room minimizes the risk of luggage loss or mix-ups. KSRTC officials said the initiative reflects the corporation’s commitment to passenger safety and modernisation.
The KSRTC CMD announced that the digital cloak room system will soon be extended to other depots across Kerala, further enhancing travel convenience. The Transport Minister also inaugurated a new air-conditioned rest facility for KSRTC staff in Thiruvananthapuram, marking another step towards improved infrastructure and employee welfare.
