Thiruvananthapuram: In a major step toward promoting automated book sales, Kerala has introduced its first-ever book vending machine in Thiruvananthapuram. The innovative machine allows readers to scan, pay, and collect books instantly, making book purchasing more accessible and convenient.
Installed at a prominent location in the city, the vending machine offers a wide range of books, including literature, fiction, self-help, and educational materials. Readers can simply browse the catalog, scan the book’s QR code, make a digital payment, and receive their selected book within seconds.
Authorities believe this initiative will encourage more people to read while providing a 24/7 access point for book lovers. The project is expected to be expanded to other cities in Kerala soon, making books more readily available to the public.
