The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has revised Kerala’s rain forecast, scaling down today’s warning to just two districts. While an orange alert had earlier been issued for five regions, only Idukki and Wayanad now remain under high alert due to the likelihood of isolated heavy rainfall.
The IMD has urged residents in these districts to stay vigilant, as localized downpours may cause disruptions. Meanwhile, other districts—excluding Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam—are under a yellow alert, with moderate showers expected.
Looking ahead, rain activity is forecast to intensify again on Saturday, with Malappuram, Kottayam, and Pathanamthitta joining Idukki and Wayanad under orange alert status as isolated heavy rain is likely.
Today, scattered heavy showers are also predicted in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur, and Kasaragod.
Relief may be in sight by Sunday, with rain expected to subside across much of the state. Weather alerts that day will apply only to five districts: Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki, Malappuram, and Wayanad.
