Kerala to Launch Dedicated OP Counters for Senior Citizens in Government Hospitals from Sept 1

Thiruvananthapuram: In a major relief for the elderly, Kerala will roll out exclusive Outpatient (OP) counters for senior citizens in all major government hospitals starting September 1, Health Minister Veena George announced.

The facility will be available in taluk, taluk headquarters, district, general, and specialty hospitals, as well as medical colleges across the state.

Since April, most major hospitals have introduced online OP registration and QR-code-based appointment booking to avoid long queues. However, many senior citizens have found it difficult to use the e-Health online system. To bridge this gap, the state government has decided to set up special counters exclusively for them, ensuring hassle-free access to healthcare.
