Kerala to Disburse ₹3,200 Welfare Pension from May 24: Relief for 62 Lakh Beneficiaries

Thiruvananthapuram: In a major relief for lakhs of citizens, the Kerala government will begin distributing welfare pensions from Saturday, May 24, with each beneficiary set to receive ₹3,200, covering the May pension and one month’s arrears.

The distribution will be completed by June 5, as per official directives. The move follows the government’s successful securing of a ₹2,000 crore loan, enabling the long-awaited release of pension funds.

Kerala had accumulated five months of pending pension dues due to financial challenges. Two of these were cleared last financial year, and with the latest disbursal, one more installment will be paid. The remaining arrears will be cleared during the current fiscal year, confirmed Finance Minister K. N. Balagopal.

Currently, the welfare pension scheme supports over 62 lakh beneficiaries in the state. The government has assured that all pending amounts will be settled within a set timeframe, reaffirming its commitment to social welfare.
