The Kerala government will mark the state-level reopening of Anganwadis for the 2025–26 academic year with a grand Praveshanolsavam on June 3 at 9:30 AM. The event will be held at Anganwadi No. 72 in Mezhuveli Grama Panchayat, Pathanamthitta, with Minister for Health and Women & Child Development Veena George inaugurating the ceremony. District Panchayat President George Abraham will preside over the function.
The celebration will feature the launch of a revamped model nutrition plan for preschoolers and the official rollout of the ‘Kunjoos Card’, designed to track key developmental milestones in early childhood.
Organized as part of the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) scheme, the initiative aims to increase public awareness about the crucial role Anganwadis play in the holistic development of children and women, supported by both central and state governments.
Catering to children aged 3 to 6 years, Anganwadis offer education with a focus on physical, cognitive, emotional, linguistic, and creative growth, incorporating theme-based learning, extracurricular activities, and life skills development.
To strengthen child nutrition, the ‘Poshaka Baalyam’ scheme will continue to provide milk, eggs, and other supplementary nutrition to boost health standards among young children.
The Praveshanolsavam is not just a ceremonial reopening but a step toward reinforcing the importance of informal preschool education and the vital community role Anganwadis serve across Kerala.
