Kerala: The Rising Powerhouse of Startups with Unprecedented Growth and Investments

Kerala is making waves in India’s startup landscape, witnessing remarkable growth, a surge in investments, and ambitious goals for the future. With strategic initiatives and government-backed support, the state is fast becoming a thriving hub for innovation and entrepreneurship.

Since 2016, Kerala’s startup ecosystem has grown by an astounding 254% in value, outpacing global averages. This rapid expansion has attracted over ₹5,800 crore in investments and has created approximately 62,000 jobs, further strengthening its position as a startup-friendly state.

The Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM) has played a crucial role in fostering entrepreneurship and incubation activities. In the 2025-26 budget, the government allocated ₹10 crore for setting up Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) clusters, ₹10 crore for its fund-of-funds scheme to support emerging startups, and another ₹10 crore in loans for co-working spaces, ensuring robust infrastructure for new ventures.

Kerala has set ambitious goals for its startup ecosystem. By 2026, the state aims to incubate 15,000 startups and generate 100,000 new job opportunities, reinforcing its commitment to economic growth and technological advancement.

Kerala’s startup-friendly environment has earned global recognition. The 2024 Global Startup Ecosystem Report highlighted the state’s 254% ecosystem value growth. Additionally, the upcoming Technology Innovation Zone in Kochi is set to become Asia’s largest digital solutions campus, further solidifying Kerala’s reputation as a global innovation hub.

With strong policies, a supportive infrastructure, and unwavering encouragement for new-age entrepreneurs, Kerala is redefining itself as India’s next big startup powerhouse.
