The prestigious Kerala State Television Awards 2023 will be presented this Friday, celebrating outstanding contributions to Malayalam television. Announced on January 22, 2025, by Minister for Fisheries, Culture, and Youth Affairs Saji Cherian, the awards recognize excellence across multiple categories.
In the fiction category, Anoop Krishnan won Best Actor for his stellar performances in Seetha Kalyanam and Kanmashi. The Best Actress award went to Mariyam Shanub for her role in Lilly, which also bagged Best Short Film and Best Art Direction. Mazhavil Manorama’s Kidilam secured Best TV Show (Entertainment), while Oru Chiri Iru Chiri Bumper Chiri (Season 2) won Best Comedy Programme. Su Su Surabhiyum Suhasiniyum (Flowers TV) was named Second Best Serial.
In the non-fiction category, We Will Not Be Afraid, directed by Shiny Jacob Benjamin, won Best Documentary for its moving portrayal of Malayali social worker Sudha Varghese. Kodagile Kuzhimadangal, directed by C.M. Sherif, received Best Documentary (General), while Padmashri Guru Kalamandalam Kshemavathi, directed by Midhun Sudhakaran, was awarded Best Documentary on Science & Environment.
This year’s awards celebrate the brilliance, creativity, and storytelling prowess of Malayalam television, highlighting some of the most compelling performances and productions of 2023.
