Thrissur: The stage is set and anticipation is high as the 55th Kerala State Film Awards are scheduled to be announced today at 3 PM in Thrissur. The jury, led by acclaimed actor Prakash Raj, has finalized its verdict after weeks of intense evaluation.
All eyes are now on Mammootty and Asif Ali, who are leading the race for the Best Actor title. Mammootty, who delivered a commanding performance as Koduman Potti in Bhramayugam, could be on his way to adding yet another state award to his illustrious career.
On the other hand, Asif Ali’s standout performances in Kishkindha Kaandam and Level Cross have earned him widespread praise, positioning him as a serious contender for the coveted honor.
Out of dozens of submissions, 38 films have been shortlisted by the final jury after preliminary screenings and assessments.
Adding an exciting twist, superstar Mohanlal has entered the competition — this time not as an actor, but for the Best Debut Director award, marking a new chapter in his cinematic journey.
The Best Actress category promises tough competition too, with Kani Kusruti, Divya Prabha, and Shamla Hamsa emerging as front-runners, while Anaswara Rajan, Jyothirmayi, and Surabhi Lakshmi also remain strong contenders.
