Kerala continues to battle extreme heat as temperatures soar, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicting a further rise of 2 to 3°C in the coming days. Except for hilly regions, hot and humid conditions are expected to persist across the state.
A yellow alert has been issued in 11 districts, warning of scorching temperatures. Thrissur and Palakkad may reach 38°C, while Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Kozhikode, Kannur, and Kasaragod could see highs of 37°C. Alappuzha and Malappuram are also expected to touch 36°C.
Palakkad recorded the state’s highest temperature at 38.3°C on Tuesday. Though isolated summer showers may bring temporary relief, the IMD has advised residents to take precautions against intense ultraviolet (UV) radiation exposure.
