Kerala has finalized arrangements for the upcoming local body elections with the establishment of 244 counting and distribution centres across the state. These centres will play a crucial dual role—serving both as hubs for the distribution and receipt of polling materials and as secure venues for storing Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and counting votes.
Each district will operate dedicated centres under the supervision of district returning officers, ensuring a streamlined system for the movement of polling materials on election day. From dispatching EVMs to polling stations to securing them in strong rooms after voting, the centres are designed to maintain complete transparency and efficiency throughout the electoral process.
As per the current plan, vote counting will begin at 8 a.m. on the designated counting day. The process will start with postal ballots, including special categories, followed by counting of votes recorded in EVMs.
With 244 centres spread across all 14 districts, the Election Commission aims to ensure a smooth, well-coordinated, and secure counting experience for Kerala’s most anticipated local body polls.
