Thiruvananthapuram: Consumers in Kerala will face yet another hike in electricity bills this October, as a 10-paise per unit fuel surcharge is set to be added. The additional charge applies to both monthly and bi-monthly bills, further burdening households.
The Kerala State Electricity Regulatory Commission explained that the surcharge is aimed at recovering ₹27.42 crore, overspent in August when extra power had to be purchased to tackle the state’s electricity shortage.
Notably, a similar surcharge was imposed in September, and the same rate will continue into October, keeping power costs on an upward trend.
