Kerala on Weather Alert: Heavy Rains, Strong Winds Forecast Across Nine Districts

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala continues to remain under the grip of monsoon showers, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) sounding a yellow alert in nine districts—Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod—warning of isolated heavy rainfall today.

The IMD defines “heavy rainfall” as 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm within 24 hours. A low-pressure system over Chhattisgarh is fueling the showers, and light to moderate rains are expected across Kerala for the next five days.

Meanwhile, Kannur and Kasaragod have been placed under an orange alert for the next three hours, based on the latest radar updates. The IMD has also cautioned of strong winds up to 50 kmph, accompanied by intense downpours.
