Kerala on Alert as Nipah Virus Strikes Again: 42-Year-Old Woman from Valanchery Tests Positive

Malappuram: Kerala is once again grappling with a Nipah virus scare, as a 42-year-old woman from Valanchery has tested positive and is currently in critical condition at a hospital in Perinthalmanna.

The woman, who had been battling high fever and respiratory issues for five days, was admitted to the hospital where doctors suspected Nipah infection. Her samples were promptly sent to the National Institute of Virology in Pune, which confirmed the presence of the deadly virus.

This is the third confirmed case of Nipah in Malappuram within the past year, raising serious concerns. A previous case in Vandoor resulted in the death of a young man.

Health authorities have ramped up surveillance and emergency protocols across the district, as fears of another outbreak loom. Medical teams are on high alert to prevent further spread.
